Repair torn, creased, and damaged photographs!

Damaged photographs can be repaired fairly easily. The biggest problem will be missing portions of the photo however these sections can often be filled by using part of the original photo, a different photo, or painting in the missing section. Remember when submitting a torn photo that it is easier to align and join the pieces in a photo editing program rather than try and scan the pieces together and then editing out any imperfections. So be sure and scan the pieces with a small space between them. Read the "Scanning Tips" for more information.

This is an example of a properly scanned torn photograph submitted for repair. The only problem was some foreign matter on the scanner glass or photo which you can see on the young girls forehead. The two pieces were first aligned and then placed together. Some editing was then required to cover the tear and any other imperfections. Minor curves, color, and hue/saturation adjustments were applied followed by some slight sharpening. The photo was then cropped and bordered to size.
