Getting a photo resized is easy and cheap. A lot of department, drug, and even grocery stores offer resizing in their photo department and can produce quality photos. Most people now have the capabilities to do their own resizing at home. These options work fine if the entire original photo is desired. However sometimes there may be just one subject in the picture that provides interest and the remainder of the photo needs to be removed. Cropping and enlarging a photograph can present a number of problems. These problems can range from loss of detail to undesirable elements such as foreground or pixilation in the cropped and enlarged photo.

The picture was first cropped to the image desired. The remaining undesirable elements in the foreground were then removed and the photo was examined for pixilation which was repaired. Three separate color overlays were applied to the foreground, the ocean, and the sky, plus two separate color overlays on the kite to improve color cast. The young man holding the kite was enhanced with a levels adjustment. The photograph was then enlarged to size followed by some mild sharpening, curves adjustment, and color enhancement. |
